When to plant morning glory/sweet pea seeds?

Thought I read somewhere that I can plant sweet pea seeds in late fall/winter. I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ok for morning glory too?

I’m near you. You can sow both of these indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date. Sow them into 4″ pots, 3 to a pot and then you won’t have to transplant them. After risk of frost has passed, you can plant them outdoors in the garden or in containers. (If you want to direct sow, you have to wait for the frost to pass.) A good friend of mine sows her seeds and then places them on top of the refrigerator – it’s up high, warm and out of the way.
